Watched the special episode of Densha Otoko last night (wee hours of the morning). Despite being the first half of the special worth crap, the ending was amazing. ♥ Densha Otoko, as a J-drama, does not disappoint.

This is the ONLY drama I've watched that does not have a pretty guy. Well, it sorta does (peripherally); the main character is sooo Otaku, he's almost retarded. Densha Otoko is soo...well made that I can't help but be charmed by the characters.

For those who have little idea what Densha Otoko is:

It's about a standard Otaku guy (Yamada) who saves a pretty woman (Saori) on a train from a drunkard. Socially inept Ota-Yamada posts this 'woman saving train incident' on BBS and moans that it will be the only magical moment in his dull, dreary, lonely Otaku Life. That is, until, pretty Saori sends him two tea cup sets as thanks. Thus, their love story unfolds, with the help of Yamada's BBS friends.

From Yamada's dysfunctional family who rarely appreciates him to his BBS friends who help him "grow up", Densha Otoko presents a character driven story that is often hilarious and melodramatic. Of course, with Yamada's Otakuness, he's often misunderstood and abused while he struggles to 'change' for Saori and gain her acceptance.

Awesome Series, despite the severe lack of hot men.

DON'T WATCH THE MOVIE. Watch the series first (9 episodes). Densha Otoko has a lot of charm that's mostly destroyed in the movie. Probably because movie Saori is Mai Takano and she LOOKS F1CKING SCARY I stopped watching the movie halfway.
