heehee not all of these are manga images. :X hence the shonen-ainess but i think the manga is more shonen-ai lulz. ;O you did not hear that from me. tears is from the manga, though. ♥
I use PS7. Um, I used a bunch of saturation layers to spiff up the dull colors...but when u use too much er.. you get like laser-like eyes and all. it gets really freaky lol.
You're my hero for life. ♥ Hikaru no Go fandom needs to participate more in the graphics department. :) I snagged a bunch [and will be back for more once you update of course].
Ruined Hikaru no Go? Never. :) If anything it's even better now! (It can get better than super!awesome.) Uh, I can't think of much criticism other than that you should try to sharpen some of the icons a bit more, but that's a personal opinion. I have to say, I love your choice of images. Thanks for sharing and good luck on completing the challenge! :D
uh hehe i was afraid i botched up hikago with this challenge XD (I know I'm kinda self absorbed when my own work so I need a 2nd, 3rd or nth to know if they turned out really ok. er...sharpen? I'll work on that. I actually blurred a lot of them *embarrassed*
gahahaha, i don't know why I did it. my fandom bug whispered these ebil things in my ear. D: (it's not that bad it's just 50 icons with the themes. the other 50, you get artist's choice so you can botch up the last 50. but really, no one will say anything if you don't capture the themes on the 1st 50 so....k i'll stop now.)
if you're into the relatively short challenges: icon_roulette <-- the themes are a bit difficult (especially when you're anal.) Roulette style, 25 randomly selected themes. Although there are a couple of themes that will be in your set more often than the rest (ex: Natural Disaster, Blind, Icon Pair, etc) Well, you've already seen what I've done with one set. sentient_icons <-- Fixed themes. Seriously way easier than Roulette.
Suck at coloring manga? do you color manga? most of your icons are anime caps. For me manga coloring is way easier than wrestling with the bloody screencap.
XD, I hope my fandom would inspire me to do that. Lol, I guess I'm just lazy and everything. XD, you're fandom is so sneaky. Teehee~!!
Heard of sentient_icons but I never gave it a go. Ugh, I'll try that if I have the time. Nyahah~! So like how do I do it there? Just claim a fandom and that's it? Or something? Waahh, I'm good at these things, sorry.
Yup, I suck at it. Here's my attempt. And squashed some textures on them. Oh, here's (http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c127/khq/avviecons/Kyoya9.png) another example. Gaaah, they suck. (http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c127/khq/avviecons/Kyoya1.png)
Ok what exactly did you do with this? lots of color burn? adjustment layers? levels? god knows I'm not qualified to give advice but I'll give it a go, ok?
Actually, the color of that is in normal. While the manga scan is set to Linear Dodge. As in the colors then on top the manga scan. Then textures set in either Overlay, Burn, Soflight. Yeah.
Hmm.. Ok Do you still have that .psd file? We can edit that :D If not, we can start anew. This is what I do:
1) Think Image. Don't think of the textures or the lights or effects. (So, yes at this point get rid of the textures.) 2) To deal with less complications: Set your Base to Normal. Multiply is fine if you plan on coloring below. 3) Now, Color. DON'T Color and THINK about the textures. Color and imagine how your image will look like. 3a) Do you believe in exclusion layers? If so put an exclusion layer first, then color. YOu need not be a exclusion hardcore and set it to 100%. Depending on the image and the color output, a 10% exclusion could work. 3b) Do you duplicate base and set it to softlight?
If you use any of these methods, adjust color opacity. If you're a fan of softlight, you may not need to adjust opacity. Colors are usually set to Multiply. I set them to Linear Burn to make them less dull.
On the headache of Textures:
4) OVERLAY is a slightly WILD layer type. So if you're gonna use it, experiment on different opacities. I only use overlay when I want to a) create a light effect b) experiment lulz
5) Be considerate when using COLOR BURN. You need not set it 100% all the time. For most icons above I used 50% or less (sometimes I don't burn) depending on how sharp the base and how dull the texture. If you think the Base image lines are too prominent already.. try that Saturation Adjustment Layer. :D
♥ I understand it's different when treating a screencap. Now you have to teach me how to cure teh screencaps lulz. ♥
Thanks so much Timi~!! I will start with a new one this time. Ugh, I lost the orig pic..which is bigger.
I also saw the tutorial~! Yey~! XD, I will seriously try that today. Thanks so much!
As for screencaps. It's just a matter of Saturation Layers, Curves, Color Layers(either set to Softlight, Overlay, Multiply, and changed opcaities). And some stuff like that. Sorry, I suck at explaining things...
Would love to take some, but haven't read enough of the manga yet...this pairing looks cute though ^^ I love the colouring you've done, it's all nice soft colours (which I love in manga icons). They're simple and nicely framed, good work! And good luck with the rest <3
these are all just *beautiful*, really incredible, but i don't want to take any unless i know where the art comes from. do you happen to have credits for your art sources?
I nearly saved all of them, I like your style so much. The colouring is soft and lovely and I loved how you Hikaru and Akira are always together *is a dork* I will credit!
Gorgeous! It's so good to see beautiful Hikago icons around since it doesn't get enough love. Snagged a few, and I can't wait to see the rest of your icons. ♥
It's from a criss cross doujin called Parallel the world. :> You can check the credits for the art Here (http://community.livejournal.com/timicons/1284.html#cutid1) :3 Thanks for commenting and enjoy!

You mentioned a radioactive effect, though...I'm assuming that's in PSP, which isn't my program, but photographically, what does it do?
