PaintTool SAI is Love

I made friends with PaintTool SAI recced by _nodrama101_



The Good:
→ The response time is FAST. It's way easier to doodle here using the Pen Tool. It felt like doodling on paper with with a handy Undo. :Db
→ You can CTRL Z; Undo a lot, unlike Photoshop who limits me to 1 Ctrl-Z undo; go to HISTORY for the rest.
→ It has a Pen/Brush-ish SELECT TOOL. (O o O) I don't know how to use it though...
→ Playing with opacity is very easy. Perfect for those who love working with layers.
→ I LOVE THE PEN TOOL.

The Not-so-Good:
→ Where the heck do I get pre-set Swatches? I have to go to the color Wheel or the mixer.
→ Pressing Del rotates the canvas. It doesn't make sense to me. Del button is for deleting!
→ Only 2 Adjustment layers(PS); Filters (SAI): 1) Hue-Saturation and 2) Brightness-Contrast

SAI IS FANTASTIC. I love doodling here! As for coloring, the lack of preset swatches turn me off

I want those really neat lines you see in the manga (seems the answer is PS Pen Tool), but I'm too lazy, so I used the SAI pen tool. I think I'm doodling ciel because I only have to draw 1 eye, haha. And yes, I'm having a Black Butler overdose.

Sometimes, I don't even know what I'm doodling. I just doodle without a picture in my head. (-_-);


♦ The hetalia community is one hell of an inspiring place. I mean I would have never tried drawing doodling on pc had I not seen the art here. They art spam! ALAVET xD

♦ Someone gave me a Sony Ericsson phone. It's OLD. Both expandable and internal memories are pathetic, but the audio is decent. Now I pimsleur on my way to work. I get a lot of odd looks because I can't help but mumble stuff, but I DON'T CARE nyahaha~~

Ehhh, you've only discovered SAI just now?! IT'S AWESOME ♥♥♥, but I still have to resort to Photoshop for touch-ups and whatnot. Have you tried coloring with it yet..?!?! *__*

As for the swatches issue, I don't know if there's any way to download/upload preset swatches. I'm sure you know your colors well enough to make your own set! (Or you can manually copy your Photoshop swatch over, but that will take some time :'D)

Hetalia's not the only fandom that art spamming, but it's definitely been crazy lately.

I-Inspirational...? How exactly?

I'm not very fond of SAI because I have OC. XD I do agree that it's nice and fast, and I seldom use adjustments as I colour-- I'd just re-save my .oci file as .psd and then open in in PS later-- but the fact that I can't re-position the windows, and that blending is rather tough, is UGH AWFUL. XD (Perhaps it's because I'm not used to it yet, but I still think that among PS, OC, SAI and Painter, OC is best.)

lol, I haven't had a chance to do anything meaningful with the program yet but I'm happy to see that you're putting it to good use. Have you tried Corel Painter? If not, I can upload the program for you. Its like an advanced version of SAI, and the brush options will make you drool all over your keys ^_~

If you didn't know already most all keyboard short-cuts in SAI can be changed to your own wishes (under Other>Keyboard Short-cuts). You can also manually rotate your canvas by holding down ALT+Space and moving your mouse in the desired location.
As for the color swatches, there is a way to set your own custom ones but as to how one does so, i am unsure of at the moment :/
